The metaphor!



We are using the human body as the basis of our model of organisational learning and knowledge management (OLKM). The complexity of the human body along with the interdependence between the various organs for harmonious functionality, closely if not optimally, reflects OLKM. Moreover, the human body is similar to an organisation, in terms of being an open system, allowing for interaction with its environment. It is both controlled by its environment but also, to a certain extent, able to control the environment. 








As mentioned previously, both the human body and OLKM are exceptionally complex and this model does not, nor does it intend to or pretend to encompass every aspect of OLKM. Instead, it aims to provide an insightful overview of some of the main aspects of OLKM from both a theoretical and practical standpoint.
